What Blancodent Contains
🔹 Sodium Bicarbonate (Sublimated)
Sodium bicarbonate is the main ingredient in Blancodent. According to its developers, the so-called sublimation process involves more than simply grinding the bicarbonate into an extremely fine powder. It also includes a specific order in which the ingredients are incorporated and particular processing conditions. The result is an extremely fine blend designed to distribute evenly over the teeth and gums during brushing and to behave differently from ordinary sodium bicarbonate used directly.

🔹 Calcium Carbonate
A naturally occurring mineral commonly used in oral care products. Calcium carbonate has been studied for its potential contribution to enamel remineralisation processes, acting as a source of calcium in certain dental formulations. In Blancodent, it forms part of the mineral base of the formula and also contributes to the cleaning action during brushing while helping to maintain a fine, uniform texture.
🔹 Mentha piperita (Peppermint)
Peppermint essential oil, known for its aromatic, refreshing and antimicrobial properties. Several studies have observed antibacterial activity against microorganisms found in the oral cavity, such as Streptococcus mutans, which is involved in the production of acids that, over time, can contribute to enamel demineralisation and the development of tooth decay. In Blancodent, it also provides its characteristic refreshing sensation and helps maintain pleasant breath.
🔹 Micronized Silica
A finely micronised mineral ingredient used in oral care products for its physical and cleaning properties. In Blancodent, it contributes to cleaning during brushing and helps maintain the consistency and uniformity of the blend.
🔹 Sodium Saccharin (0.07%)
A sweetener used in a very small proportion to balance the taste of the formula without adding sugar. Its role in Blancodent is to make the taste more pleasant during brushing. It is not used as an active ingredient, but solely for its organoleptic function.

🔹 Eugenia caryophyllata (Clove)
Clove essential oil, naturally rich in eugenol, a compound widely known and used in dentistry. Eugenol has been studied for its antimicrobial, analgesic and local anaesthetic properties. In Blancodent, it forms part of the blend of essential oils and also contributes its characteristic aroma.
🔹 Salvia officinalis (Sage)
Sage essential oil, derived from a plant traditionally used in oral care. Several studies have observed antimicrobial properties of Salvia officinalis against microorganisms found in the oral cavity, including Streptococcus mutans, which is involved in the production of acids that can contribute to enamel demineralisation and the development of tooth decay. In Blancodent, it forms part of the blend of essential oils in the formula and also contributes its characteristic aromatic qualities.
🔹 Eugenol (Eugenol)
An aromatic component naturally present in clove essential oil, already mentioned above. Its presence is also indicated separately in the official list of ingredients (INCI), due to its allergenic potential for some sensitive individuals. It does not necessarily imply the addition of an extra ingredient to the formula.
🔹 Limonene (Limonene)
An aromatic compound naturally present in numerous essential oils, especially citrus ones. It adds fresh notes to the composition. It is declared as a fragrance allergen where required under cosmetic regulations.
🔹 Linalool (Linalool)
An aromatic compound present in various essential oils, including mint. It contributes to the aromatic profile of the product. It can cause sensitisation in some people and is therefore subject to specific declaration requirements.
🔹 Geraniol (Geraniol)
An aromatic compound found naturally in various plants and essential oils. It adds floral nuances to the aroma of the formula. It is declared individually due to its allergenic potential.
