WHY DO WE STILL USE TOOTHPASTE?
Probably because we've always done it that way.
Since childhood we have learnt that a toothpaste must be a paste, must foam, must have an intense flavour and must leave us with a particular sensation of freshness.
But rarely do we ask ourselves a much simpler question:
what does our mouth really need in order to clean the teeth?
A toothpaste is a complex formulation. In order to achieve and maintain over months its texture, appearance, foam, flavour and stability, it may need ingredients with very different functions.
Thickeners. Humectants. Surfactants. Flavourings. Preservatives. Colourings or opacifying agents, depending on the formula.
They can all serve a function within the product.
While we brush, we do not expose only the teeth.
And that is where BlancoDent began.
Not by asking ourselves what we could add to a toothpaste.
But what we could avoid adding without giving up proper oral hygiene.
More than 30 years of development behind a different formula.
WHEN WE STARTED ASKING QUESTIONS, WE FOUND MORE QUESTIONS
Do we need foam in order to clean?
Do we need a toothpaste to be white and opaque?
What happens with the ingredients that also come into contact with gums, tongue and mucosa?
Do we know everything we would like to know about an exposure that we repeat every day for years?
The scientific literature does not allow us to state that a conventional toothpaste is dangerous simply because it contains certain ingredients.
But nor are all the questions closed.
And we have made a very simple decision:
If an ingredient is not necessary for the formula we want, we prefer not to add it.
We do not want you to believe us because we say so.
We have gathered the studies, reviews and assessments from scientific bodies that explain why we are asking ourselves these questions.
But the fact that an ingredient serves a function in the formula does not necessarily mean that our mouth needs that function.
